Network Security

photo6Abuse of computer networks and systems happens every day and unfortunately RENU members are not excluded from this. An important part of the abuses can be prevented by keeping operating systems up-to-date (security patches) and closely monitoring suspected actions and network traffic. But this can never completely prevent abuse of networks and systems on the internal network.

The security solutions are guided by our Security Policy. We acknowledge the fact that there is alot of insecurity related to Internet use and there take upon us to avail a network security measures to our members.

Network Access

We provide managed network access with a variety of transport methods. We strive to remain hardware neutral in our service connections, enabling us to rapidly employ advances in technology for optimal solutions. Hardware and vendor neutrality provides multiple benefits, including the ability to continually improve service levels and reduce costs. We are going to make use of hardware and transport methods that will fit into our limited budget and which ensure that we deliver quality and sustainable services.

Network Filtering

Another way of dealing with abuse of Computer Networks is IP packet filtering. Ip Packet Filtering rules can be applied on the connection between the member internal networks and RENU to prevent several common types of abuse.
Member connections to the RENU network all make use of a router to transport the IP traffic between the internal network and RENU. Most of these routers can be used as basic, but effective, filtering devices. Firewalls and advanced router software may be able to make more complex decisions, and often provide better protection.
The configuration are provided are based on Cisco IOS because most of RENU members make use of Cisco routers.

Other services will include:
